Equifax Data Breach: The Saga Continues

A deal was finalized on October 2, 2017 that awarded Equifax a $7.25 million government contract to help the IRS detect fraud. Equifax, a credit reporting agency, announced early last September of a security breach that has affected more than 145 million people. As of October 9, 2017, seven members of the Senate are asking the IRS to rescind the contract. The senators’ mention in a letter to the IRS Commissioner, John Koskinen, that “we have no assurances that our constituents’ personal information is safe in their hands.”

Equifax is facing several state and federal probes related to the hack. The company is under investigation by the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Federal Trade Commission.
The Equifax Data Breach Fallout is yet to fully settle in.
